Concern reigned through Mnemosyne’s mind as she paced lightly at her post. Concern for the Queen’s wellbeing. Her majesty had been sensing ‘signs’ that the Galaxy Cauldron was not acting as it should whilst Mnemosyne could find no indication of the same from her post. Her Majesty was also having issues with her memories and dreams, yet the Queen asked no specific questions about them to her. Mnemosyne found it odd that the Queen would not use her servant’s abilities and knowledge to her advantage; after all, she was the Sailor Senshi of Memory. Her highness seemed to think that drinking the from the river of memories would solve all her problems, but Mnemosyne knew that regaining the Queen’s memories would take more than a haphazard drink whenever she felt like it.
Mnemosyne hadn’t wanted to push her Queen; it seemed she was unsure as to what she wanted from these memories. Did she want them to go away, or did she want to understand them? Mnemosyne could help her majesty regain her memories gently, properly and fully; rather than the shakily uncontrolled returning of broken shards of memory that the queen seemed to be experiencing now. But it had to be what the Queen wanted. Mnemosyne couldn’t make the decision for her and it wasn’t her place to suggest it to the Queen. Her Majesty Queen Galaxia would have to come to want the solution Mnemosyne could offer and ask for her help. And Mnemosyne would have to wait. And it frustrated her, she realised, to wait in silence, to be so worried about her Queen.
The River Guardian has been keeping ever vigilant ever since the meeting with the Queen. Much of what the Queen had said confused her. First she seemed worried that something was wrong. She kept asking questions about the Galaxy Cauldron and Mnemosyne had assumed that the Queen wanted them to be more thorough and on guard for anything to go wrong.
“If anything, and I mean anything, substantial happens here, Come to earth to get me… You girls need to know I’m depending on you for this.”
But then the Queen had told them that they could ease off their duties. Take a break from their work. Reside in the palace while the queen was away. It seemed to completely contradict all her majesty’s concerns. It confused the Senshi Guardian, so she had decided to remain wary and cautious. Better to be prepared than to be mistaken.
Mnemosyne hadn’t moved into the palace. Although she was capable of keeping guard of the river from the palace, it wasn’t right. She had to reason to be in the Palace when her Majesty was not there. All it would achieve is slackness. And it would remind her of her life before her planet was destroyed. It wasn’t the same at all, but the small similarities were enough to invoke memories. The River sustained her in her living arrangements. It was not necessary for her to sleep and she didn’t need food as often as others may. The Universe provided for her and the river revitalized her.
Mnemosyne’s confusion made it harder to pass the time as she guarded the river. Her senses were stretched to search the land surrounding her. With a sigh Mnemosyne searched Northward until she found Lethe presence near the North Gate. Mnemosyne concentrated her senses on her sister’s figure and expended a little energy and magic to transport her body to the other River Guardian. It was easier with the aid of the River. Mnemosyne opened her eyes to see her sister’s frame turned away from her own. Mnemosyne sighed and turned to look sideways at the river.
“Lethe, I worry about her Majesty. She seems… unwell.”
