Mnemosyne had been meditating when she felt the slight shift of matter nearby. Her eye’s flashed open as she whipped her head around, looking for any source of the disturbance. She found it in the form of a small package sitting in front of her. Mnemosyne squinted her eyes in suspicion as she slowly picked up the parcel and read the label. From Galaxia. The River Guardian nearly dropped the parcel in surprise. The Queen had extended to her a friendly gesture in the form of this package. The Queen had sent her a gift. The fluttering in her stomach started up again at this thought.
Slowly and carefully, Mnemosyne opened the wrapping to find what she assumed was some form of food-stuff with pink hearts on top. She picked up one of the three rectangles, her brow furrowed with curiosity, and squeezed it a little, feeling the spongy texture between her fingers. She was still full from her dinner with the queen several days ago, but nonetheless she raised the brown whatsit to her lips and took a small nibble. Her eyes lit up as she tasted the cocoa in the small cake-like rectangle. She took a larger bite then, relishing in the flavour. She hadn’t tasted cocoa since the short peacetime between her home planets; since she was a child. A small tear was raised to her eye and she finished the rectangle. How would she ever be able to thank the Queen enough? She lay down on her back beside the river and took the second brownie to her lips with a smile, deciding - in a fashion she wasn’t accustomed to - that she could afford to relax for a few minutes.
