A day with Mnemy and Lethe.
She looked out at the nebula again. “No I suppose that’s all I came for. Mnemy are you okay? I need to know that my river guardians aren’t having any troubles with anything.”
She could sense the girl squirming in her seat, and Lethe trying to calm her down. “You both are excused, but know this. If anything and i mean anything substantial happens here, Come to earth to get me. I need to make sure I can fix it before it gets to bad. It’s my job as queen. Don’t worry about worrying me or leaving your post. You girls need to know I’m depending on you for this.” She turned to look at them feeling like she was putting too much responsibility.
“I’m going back to Earth in the morning, If you girls would like you could join me for dinner. Mnemy, I’d really like some of your river water before I leave. Maybe it’ll help clear my head and remember things more clearly.”
Earth had changed the queen. She didn’t want to be so formal anymore, She would if she had to, but other than that she wanted to be friends with Mnemy and Lethe. They were as close as she was going to get to a family.
“Please don’t be afraid to take a day off and come to earth. It really is wonderful there. I’m giving you ladies some free will. You do not have to stay at the rivers at all times. You can even enjoy the luxuries of my palace while I’m away.” She wanted to take care of them the best she could.
“You girls are dismissed, but remember my offer, and my request. I’ll either see you tonight or tomorrow before I leave. Thank you for answering my questions the best you could.” She nodded at the girls as the signal they could leave.
Mnemosyne was a little surprised at the Queen’s nickname for her, but she managed to stutter out a reply, “I-I’m just a little, under the weather, y-your majesty.” The way the Queen was treating her wasn’t something Mnemosyne was used to from a ruler. It made her feel strange. There was a little fluttering in her stomach that she didn’t understand, but that she decided she liked. Mnemosyne brought her attention back to Galaxia as she started talking of more serious matters, but her lips turned up into a little smile. “Of course, your majesty, we will let you know as soon as anything happens.”
The senshi’s small smile dropped a little when Galaxia had announced she was leaving so soon. She didn’t know why, but it saddened her. Still, Galaxia had invited them to dinner and had asked for Mnemosyne’s assistance, so the River Guardian bowed her head respectfully and gave her answer “I will come up before dinner with my water of Memories. And we will join you for dinner, if you wish it.” It was a honour to be asked to dine with the Queen, and she was certain it was what Lethe would want to do as well.
“Your offers are very generous, your Majesty. We will keep them in mind, and shall warn you if we find anything unusual.” Sailor Lethe said from beside her before standing, curtseying for the queen and walking to the door to wait for Mnemosyne to join her.
“Your Majesty,” Mnemosyne started, wanting to serve the Queen to the best of her ability, “If you ever need us while on Earth, you need only ask. If you ever want my water of memories, or Lethe’s strength, or help remembering the past; we are here for you to call upon. It will cause us no grievances to transport to your side at will.” Mnemosyne touched one of the Galactica Bracelets on her arm that both Guardians had chosen to wear as an example of their devotion to the queen, “We are connected. Call out with your mind and we will be there in an instant.”
Mnemosyne stood, curtseyed and walked to her sister then, her mind rife with confusion. Galaxia was so informal to the girls. Was it that she wished to see them differently than as servants? She wanted to be whatever the queen wanted Mnemosyne to be to her, but Mnemosyne didn’t know what that was. As they exited the palace, Mnemosyne looked to the sky with a smile on her face. The queen had called her Mnemy. Mnemy. She quite liked that.
